Commonly known as Spotted Gum, the maculata derives its name from maculosus, Latin for spotted. Its smooth powdery bark sheds in polygonal flakes. This tree can grow higher than 45 meters, and it produces small white flowers that last from winter to spring. This species is also known locally as the Water Tree because of the small hollows in the base of its trunks, which can hold water all year round.
