Moringa oleifera

Moringa oleifera

from 4.50

The Moringa oleifera tree is now cultivated globally, spreading in recognition after being used in traditional medicine for centuries. The USDA attests to this species’ long list of vitamins and minerals, lending credence to its surge into the superfood craze. When stacked gram to gram against the groceries in your fridge, M. oleifera’s leaves contain more vitamin C than oranges, more potassium than bananas, and more calcium than milk. The tree is also known across Africa for its resilience in arid landscapes, and goes by “Nebedaye” in Senegal, meaning “Never Die.” Its seed pods, also edible when young, are triangular and hang up to 90 cm long.
